Emory University

Expected Graduation May 2025

I am currently a freshman at Emory University as a Robert W. Woodruff Scholar. I am currently pursuing a double major in Chinese Studies and Finance with an area depth in International Business.

For the 2020-21 school year I took a gap year and studied abroad on a full scholarship from the US Department of State in New Taipei City, Taiwan at Tamkang University, 淡江大學 (Please see NSLI-Y Scholarship in the Accolades section for more information on the scholarship program). As a NSLI-Y scholar, I increased my Mandarin proficiency from it’s initial Intermediate-Mid oral Chinese Proficiency level to Advanced Mid, according to the ACTFL proficiency scale. While abroad, I built lifelong connections with the friends I made through volunteer work, school activities, and my host family.

As a junior in high school, this life-changing experience solidified my passions for studying Chinese language and culture.
